A native of Las Vegas, Dr. Vander Veldt remembers taking his grandmother to her eye doctor. She had a lot of problems with her sight not only glaucoma but macular degeneration. Watching her struggle over the years got me interested in what it would take to help others with their sight, he explains.
While an undergraduate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Dr. Vander Veldt landed a job as a technician with Dr. Dexter Morris. After graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry, he returned home and began working with Dr. Morris. As a part of Vision Source, he appreciates the group's commitment to continuously upgrading its tools of the trade. 'The technology in the Vision Source practice is ahead of the rest of the community. Our newer equipment used to diagnose and treat eye disease helps us to catch those diseases earlier," Dr. Vander Veldt said.
When he's not working, Dr. Vander Veldt can be found skiing with his wife, Katie, and their two sons or watching his favorite football team, the Wisconsin Badgers.
