MountainView Hospital Announces New Patient Tower
For Immediate Release:
MountainView Hospital announced today that in addition to its $34 million emergency services expansion, which is currently underway, it will also build a 60,000 square foot patient tower above the new emergency room and intensive care unit. The project in its entirety will exceed $60 million.
“We are very excited about the new patient tower and ER expansion,” said Will Wagnon, CEO of MountainView Hospital. “By expanding our campus and its service offerings, we further our mission of giving the community clinical reasons to choose MountainView for their medical care.”
The second floor of the new patient tower will be used for a 32-bed medical/surgical unit and the third floor will be shelled for future growth. The hospital also plans to renovate its main lobby and café. The tower will be built concurrently with the ER/ICU addition and plans to be complete by the end of the year.
Last summer, MountainView Hospital began construction on its new emergency room and 12-bed intensive care unit. Renovations were also made to the 72-bed medical surgical unit on the fourth floor. The expansion will nearly double the size of the emergency room from 22 to 42 beds, and will offer additional amenities such as:
- A dedicated emergency room entrance and a separate ambulance entrance
- A “Fast Track” and new Triage area for rapid medical evaluation and initiation of treatment
- A helipad conveniently located near the emergency room to help the transport teams get patients into the emergency room quickly
- New equipment including a PET-CT, offering advanced metabolic imaging capabilities to help quickly evaluate chest pain patients
In 2011, MountainView Hospital added a number of amenities to its campus, including a Walgreen’s Pharmacy on the first floor of the Medical Office Building (the first of its kind in Nevada), an 18-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit on the sixth floor and a state-of-the-art retail store in the front lobby. Nathan Adelson Hospice will also open on MountainView’s campus later this year. All of these services give the hospital the ability to provide even better care for its patients and the community.
